comedy
a mocking treatment of human limitations intended to cause the spectator to laugh (Lavandier, 2005). Often used to describe a story which is intended primarily to entertain its audience and which ends happily for the main characters. However, satirical comedy may be painfully unflinching in its depiction of human folly, vice and greed; and it is possible for a story to contain comic incident and effects without itself being a comedy.
